Synergy PGE and ELNUSA Increase Cooperation in Geothermal Technology Development

Jakarta, June 3, 2021 - PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) and PT ELNUSA Tbk (ELNUSA), both subsidiaries of PT Pertamina (Persero) signed a cooperation agreement for geothermal technology development, Thursday (3 /06) at PGE Head Office - Menara Cakrawala, Jakarta. This agreement aims to develop geothermal technology, namely measuring the two-phase flow meter (Two Phase Flow Meter) as the world's first geothermal technology breakthrough. The collaboration begins with the use of this technology on the Field Prototype for operational testing in the geothermal field before it can be widely used.

The event was attended by the Board of Directors of PGE and the Board of Directors of ELNUSA face to face while still implementing the Covid-19 health protocol. President Director of PGE, Ahmad Yuniarto said that this collaboration is a form of commitment to utilize PGE's institutional knowledge as a pioneer company that has a long history of experience in managing the use of clean geothermal energy in Indonesia.

"With this two-phase geothermal technology development collaboration with Elnusa, PGE strengthens the synergy between companies in the Pertamina Group in developing the technical services business for geothermal. PGE's technical expertise is built on PGE's long experience in managing clean geothermal energy in Indonesia for nearly 40 years. After the operation test, this technology is expected to be widely used as PGE's contribution to the development of geothermal technology both in Indonesia and internationally," said Ahmad Yuniarto.

“The proudest thing about this geothermal two-phase fluid flow meter technology is that it was created by PGE workers through a series of researches in Indonesia and New Zealand. Because until now there is no real-time measurement technology for geothermal fluids in production wells. With this innovation, real-time data can be obtained to ensure operational excellence in the performance of a geothermal well so as to maintain the quality of the well.” added Ahmad Yuniarto.

On the same occasion, the President Director of ELNUSA, Ali Mundakir said "ELNUSA is currently continuously trying to improve its capabilities and capacity through its superior competencies and also strengthen business partnerships both within the Pertamina Group and with national and international companies. The agreement of this cooperation agreement with PGE is one of the continued realizations of the cooperation that has been established quite closely before."

Ali added "On the other hand, this collaboration is also one of ELNUSA's strategic steps to enter further into the Renewable Energy business. ELNUSA has superior competence in terms of engineering and fabrication and marketing of technical equipment products used in geothermal operations. Meanwhile, PGE has the technical and scientific capabilities to innovate the equipment needed in geothermal operations. With these advantages, the corporate strategic alliance together with PGE this will make both of them grow and progress together”.

The collaboration between ELNUSA and PGE is certainly a tangible form of a synergy commitment to collaborate to provide added value for the Pertamina group as well as a form of support for the development of products made by the nation's children towards the commercialization stage of two-phase flow rate technology. Both parties hope that this collaboration can improve the company's ability to develop new and renewable energy potential in Indonesia which can encourage the energy transition in Indonesia.
