EOR Festival: Elnusa and Pertamina URTI Won First Place with Vibroseismic EOR Technology

Jakarta, 16 December 2022 - PT Elnusa Tbk (Elnusa), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) which is incorporated in Pertamina Upstream Subholding together with Pertamina Upstream Research and Technology Innovation (URTI) which is also incorporated in PT Pertamina (Persero) won first place in the 2022 EOR Festival (15/12/22). The EOR Festival is an event for recognition from the Government and the National Oil and Gas Industry, in this case, the Oil and Gas Testing Center (Lemigas) of the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, to K3S and technology providers for the efforts that have been made in implementing EOR technology. Activities that can be included in this festival are EOR implementation activities that have been successfully carried out both on a laboratory scale and a field scale.

Lemigas is holding activities until Q4 this year from May to December 2022. The series of events include Launching, outreach and selection of candidates, deadline for proposing prospective recipients, selection of prospective recipients, judging (verification and field visits), and assessment and determination of receiving nominations and awards.

Elnusa's Director of Business Development, Ratih Esti Prihatini said "At this EOR festival, Elnusa and URTI agreed to register Vibrosesimic EOR as one of the appropriate EOR technology implementations to get recognition from the Government and the National Oil and Gas Industry. Vibroseimic EOR is a new EOR method with vibration stimulation technology. This technology utilizes elastic waves as instruments to move reservoir rock particles and oil fluids in the pores. Thus, the oil trapped in the rock pores in the form of oil droplets (granules) also moves and there is a flow of increased oil mobility. Ratih said.

Ratih added that the implementation of Vibrosesimic EOR had been carried out by Elnusa and URTI on a field scale. The Tempino Field, Muaro Jambi which is managed by Regional 1 Zone 1 Subholding Upstream Pertamina was appointed as the research location and implementation of this technology. "The results obtained show an improvement in fluid flow in the reservoir and was able to increase daily average production of 51 BOPD (10.3%) and a cumulative increment of 27.67 MBbls for the period 11 August 2020 - 31 May 2022." Ratih said.

"The victory over this collaboration is clear evidence of Elnusa's competency and capability as a national energy service company that is adaptive in technology development. We also hope that this technology can be a solution to support increased oil and gas production that is efficient and environmentally friendly for the oil and gas industry in Indonesia, especially in the Pertamina and other K3S fields, which will ultimately be able to realize Elnusa's current and future vision as an Energy Services Company. Leading in Providing the best Total Solutions that are safe and sustainable”. Ratih said.
