Elnusa Petrofin Held the 2nd Year Petrofin Journalist Academy at SMAN 19 Medan

Medan, December 21, 2022 – To support point 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely quality education to improve the competence of students at the high school level (SMA), especially regarding the basis of journalism, PT Elnusa Petrofin (EPN) a subsidiary of PT Elnusa Tbk (ELSA) held a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity entitled Petrofin Journalist Academy 2022 in collaboration with the Medan Tribune media on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

Conducted in a hybrid manner at SMA Negeri 19 Medan, Jalan Seruwai, Kelurahan Sei Mati, Medan Labuhan District, Medan City, as many as 70 face-to-face students and 100 online students via zoom meetings attended this journalistic training.

PT Elnusa Petrofin's Head of Corporate Communication, Putiarsa Bagus Wibowo, revealed that the Petrofin Journalist Academy activity is a manifestation of one of the pillars of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility, namely #PetropinPintar. This activity was held in the form of journalistic training for high school students.

"The implementation of the activity is entering its second year after previously being held in Makassar City in 2021, which continues to carry out collaboration with local media, this time it is the Medan Tribune so that students can obtain material from competent and reliable sources in their fields." Putiarsa said.

With the implementation of the Petrofin Cares CSR Program with the #PetropinPintar pillar, Putiarsa hopes to increase high school student's insights in the field of journalism so they can compose news narratives so that they can be applied in real life so that one day they can become competent journalists.

"This program is expected to continue to be held every year in different cities, and will continue to work closely with key media in those cities." He concluded.

Meanwhile, the Chief Editor of the Medan Tribune, Iin Sholihin said, the activities carried out by PT Elnusa Petrofin were positive things, which must continue to be supported. Especially with collaboration in introducing journalism and how our work system works in the world of journalism.

"Hopefully Elnusa Petrofin can always support positive activities like this and not only in the field of Journalism, there are other professions that we might be able to introduce students to early on. So that in the future this child already has an idea of ​​where to go in the future," hoped Iin.

Meanwhile, the Principal of SMA Negeri 19 Medan, Renata Nasution S.Pd, M.Sc., expressed his deepest gratitude to PT Elnusa Petrofin and the Medan Tribune for the Petrofin Journalist Academy activities that have been held at his school.

"I say thank you and appreciate the activities of the Petrofin Journalist Academy, where our students are directed and taught how to understand and write news in the corridor of a journalist as well as content creators," he concluded.

In the Journalism class, students are given training by the Red Head of the Medan Tribune on how to make news. This training is packaged in interactive dialogues and games as well as quizzes that increase enthusiasm and hone creativity for the participants who attend.

The activity was closed with material from a celebgram content creator @anakkuliah, Johanes Sinaga a Social Media Enthusiast and entrepreneur in Medan City who motivated participants to be digitally literate since school. [EPN]
